What You See on a Casablanca Tour
The Hassan II Mosque
Finished in 1993 on a platform over the Atlantic, the Hassan II Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the world, and its minaret, at about 210 meters, one of the tallest. It is one of the few mosques in Morocco that non-Muslims may enter, on the mosque’s own guided tours: you see the prayer hall with its cedar ceiling and the ablution halls below. Tours run several times a day outside prayer times; the hours change with the season and during Ramadan, so we time your visit around them.
The Corniche
The ocean road west of the mosque, past the El Hank lighthouse to the beaches and cafés of Ain Diab. A good place for a walk or a coffee facing the Atlantic.
The Habous quarter
The “new medina”, built in the 1920s and 1930s in a traditional style, with arcaded lanes, olive and spice stalls, bookshops and pastry shops, next to the royal palace of Casablanca.
Mohammed V Square and downtown
The administrative heart of the city, and around it the white Art Deco and Mauresque buildings of the 1920s and 1930s along the Boulevard Mohammed V, and the former Sacré-Cœur cathedral.
The Old Medina and Rick’s Café

On the day you land
Mohammed V Airport is about 45 minutes from the city. Your driver meets you at arrivals, your bags stay in the car, and after the tour you can check in to your hotel or drive on: Rabat is about 1 hour 15 minutes from Casablanca, Marrakech about 3 hours and Fes about 3 hours 30.
On a long layover
If your connection is long enough to leave the airport, a short tour of the mosque and the Corniche is possible. Allow for passport control on the way out and security on the way back, and ask us before you book: we tell you honestly if the time is too short.
From a cruise ship
We collect you at the port of Casablanca and bring you back well before all-aboard. Tell us your ship, the docking time and how many of you there are.
What to wear in the mosque
Shoulders and knees covered, for men and women. You take your shoes off inside and carry them in a bag. Women do not need to cover their hair on the guided tour, but a scarf is welcome.
