Morocco Private Driver for Your Whole Trip
A private driver in Morocco is the easiest way to see the country: one English-speaking driver/guide and an air-conditioned 4×4 or minivan, yours alone for a day or for your whole trip. You choose the route, the stops and the pace, and your driver deals with the roads, the parking and the long mountain passes.
Most of our travelers book their driver as part of a tailor-made tour, with hotels, riads and a desert camp included. You can also hire a driver on its own, from Marrakech, Casablanca, Fes, Tangier or anywhere in Morocco. The price depends on the number of days, the route and the vehicle, and we quote it within 24 hours.

What Your Private Driver Does
Your driver is with you from the first pickup to the last drop-off, and it is the same person every day.
Drives, and knows the road
The Tizi n’Tichka pass over the High Atlas, the desert roads to Merzouga, the mountain lanes of the Rif: your driver knows where the road is slow, where to stop for fuel and where the views are.
Suggests the stops
Kasbahs, viewpoints, a village market, a café with a good tagine for lunch. Stops are flexible: say the word and the car pulls over.
Times the day
Your driver plans each day around the light and the heat: early starts in summer, arriving at Ait Ben Haddou or the dunes when they look their best, and long drives broken up so no one gets tired.
Speaks English
Our drivers are English-speaking driver/guides, and other languages are available on request. They explain the places you drive through and help with the small things, from a pharmacy to a SIM card.
Hands over to a local guide in the medinas
In the old medinas of Fes and Marrakech, and at sites like Volubilis, a licensed local guide walks with you and your driver waits with the car. We arrange the guide on request. See our city tours.
Costs nothing extra on the road
Fuel, tolls, parking and all of your driver’s own costs, including meals and nights away, are part of the price.
Where You Can Hire a Driver
Our drivers work across the whole country, and any trip can start and end where you like.
Private driver in Marrakech
The most common starting point. Hire a driver for a day in the Atlas Mountains or to Essaouira, or for a few days over the High Atlas to the Sahara and back. See our day trips from Marrakech and tours from Marrakech.
Casablanca
Where most flights from the US land. Your driver meets you at the airport, as on all our airport transfers, and the trip begins there: Rabat, Chefchaouen and Fes to the north, Marrakech to the south. See our tours from Casablanca.
Fes
For Chefchaouen, Meknes and Volubilis, or the desert road south to Merzouga. See our tours from Fes.
Tangier
For travelers arriving on the ferry from Spain, with Chefchaouen, Tetouan and Asilah close by. See our tours from Tangier.
The Sahara
Our team is based in Merzouga, at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes, so the desert is home ground. See our Sahara desert tours.
How the price works
The cost of the vehicle and driver is the same whether you are two or six, so the price per person falls as your group grows. Send us your dates, your route and how many of you there are, and we send an exact price within 24 hours.
Private Driver or Driving Yourself?
Renting a car is cheaper, and on the motorways it is easy. Here is where a driver makes the difference.
Private tours or group tours?| Feature | With a private driver | Driving yourself |
|---|---|---|
| Finding the way | Your driver knows every route | Maps, and signs often in Arabic and French |
| Medina riads | Dropped at the nearest gate, bags carried | Find parking, then find the riad on foot |
| Mountain passes | Roads your driver knows well | Long, winding and new to you |
| Stops | Your driver knows the good ones | Whatever you find on the way |
| The day | You look out of the window | You watch the road |
| Cost | Higher, shared by your group | Lower |

Private Driver Questions
Something else on your mind? Send us your question and a real person on our team answers.
Is a private driver the same as a tour guide?
Your driver is a driver/guide: they speak English, explain the places on the way and suggest stops. In the old medinas and at some sites, a licensed local guide walks with you instead; we arrange one on request.
Do we pay for the driver’s meals and hotel?
No. All of your driver’s costs, including meals and nights away, are part of the price, as are fuel, tolls and parking.
Can we hire a private driver in Marrakech for one day?
Yes. See our day trips from Marrakech, or tell us where you would like to go and we plan the day with you.
What car will we have?
An air-conditioned 4×4 or minivan, chosen for your group size and route. Tell us if you need child seats or have a lot of luggage.
Is it safe to drive in Morocco?
The motorways are good, but city traffic, mountain passes and night driving take experience. That is the main reason our travelers choose a driver.
Your Driver, Your Route.
Tell us your dates, where you start and what you would like to see. We reply within 24 hours with a plan and a price.
