Our 7-day Morocco itinerary starts in Casablanca and loops through Chefchaouen, Fes, the Sahara at Merzouga and the Dades Valley before ending in Marrakech, with a private driver and riad stays, priced for your group size and hotel level.
It is the route we suggest most for one week in Morocco: two imperial cities, the blue town of Chefchaouen, a night in a desert camp and the kasbahs of the south, without backtracking. Your English-speaking driver/guide stays with you all seven days, and you can stop wherever you like along the way.

Day 1: Casablanca to Rabat and Chefchaouen
About 5 h driving · 340 kmYour driver meets you at Mohammed V Airport arrivals or your Casablanca hotel. We start at the Hassan II Mosque on the Atlantic, then drive an hour north to Rabat for the Kasbah of the Udayas and the Hassan Tower. The afternoon road climbs into the Rif Mountains, and you reach Chefchaouen in time to walk the blue lanes before dinner.

Day 2: Chefchaouen to Fes via Volubilis and Meknes
About 4 h 30 min driving · 290 kmTake the morning in Chefchaouen while the medina is quiet, then drive south through olive country to Volubilis, the best-preserved Roman site in Morocco. After a stop at the Bab Mansour gate in Meknes, one of the four imperial cities, you continue to Fes (Fez) and check in to your riad in the old medina.

Day 3: Exploring the Fes Medina
No long drive todayToday is for Fes el-Bali, a medina of around 9,000 lanes where donkeys still carry the deliveries. We can arrange a licensed local guide on request. You see the Bou Inania Madrasa, look into the courtyard of Al-Qarawiyyin, and watch the dyers at the Chouara Tannery from a leather-shop terrace. The afternoon is yours, or your driver can take you to the Merinid Tombs for the view at sunset.

Day 4: Fes to Merzouga and the Sahara Desert
About 8 h driving · 470 kmThe longest drive of the week, broken into easy stages. You pass Ifrane in the Middle Atlas, the cedar forest near Azrou where Barbary macaques live, and the palm groves of the Ziz Valley. In the late afternoon you reach Merzouga, swap the car for a camel, and ride into the dunes of Erg Chebbi for sunset. After sandboarding on the dunes, dinner at camp ends with traditional Berber music.

Day 5: Merzouga to Todra Gorge and the Dades Valley
About 5 h driving · 290 kmWake early for sunrise over the dunes, then ride back to Merzouga for breakfast. Heading west, we stop at the market town of Rissani and walk into Todra Gorge, where the canyon walls rise about 300 m. The night is in a kasbah hotel above the Dades Valley.

Day 6: Dades Valley to Ait Ben Haddou and Marrakech
About 6 h 30 min driving · 320 kmFollow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through Skoura to Ouarzazate, then walk up through Ait Ben Haddou, the fortified village listed by UNESCO. The final stretch crosses the High Atlas at the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m) before dropping into Marrakech in the evening.

Day 7: Marrakech and Departure
Airport transfer about 15 minSpend the morning in Marrakech: the Bahia Palace, the Koutoubia Mosque, the souks and the Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Your driver then takes you to Marrakech Menara Airport. You can add a night or two here; tell us and we adjust the plan.

Is 7 days enough for Morocco?
One week is enough for the classic loop: two imperial cities, Chefchaouen, one night in the Sahara and Marrakech. If you want the coast or the Atlas at a slower pace, look at our 10-day itinerary.
Can this Morocco 1 week itinerary start in Marrakech?
Yes. We run the same route in reverse, starting in Marrakech and ending in Casablanca or Fes. The price stays about the same.
How long are the drives on this 7 day Morocco tour?
Most days have 4 to 6 hours of driving with stops. Day 4, Fes to Merzouga, is about 8 hours, split with breaks in Ifrane and the Ziz Valley.
What is the desert camp like?
You spend the night in a desert camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga, with dinner and traditional Berber music. We confirm the exact camp, tent category and bathroom facilities with your quote, based on the package you choose and availability.
What is the best month for one week in Morocco?
March to May and September to November. December and January work too, but desert nights drop close to freezing.
Can we add Essaouira or extra nights?
Yes. Two nights in Essaouira at the end is the most common change. Use the Plan My Private Trip form and note what you want to add.
